That’s why we’ve launched TGB Fireside Chats: A new series of intimate, engaging events designed to spark fresh thinking and build meaningful connections. Each session invites a diverse group of curious minds to explore a powerful theme, guided by guest contributors who inspire dialogue.

As we look toward the horizon and imagine the future we hope to shape, we’ve identified four themes we are eager to explore:

At times, our daily work can feel small, even routine. Yet history reminds us that we’ve been part of bold, meaningful efforts before. How did we find that sense of purpose? What gave our work weight and impact? And how might we once again reach for something that stirs our blood and expands our vision?

- Playfulness
Our world is increasingly shaped by regulations, budgets, efficiency demands, and value engineering.  And still, woven into past and present projects, we find moments of delight, humor, and energy. Playfulness has a way of sneaking in, even against the odds. How did that spark ignite, and how might we welcome more of it into our work today?

- What to do with AI?

It is upon us. Artificial intelligence promises to be the greatest disrupter of our time.  History has taught that new technological breakthroughs can be both wonderful and terrifying. How might we navigate this new tool to find our way to ‘wonderful’?

- Building communities in a new world.
We live in a crowded world that grows lonelier. The wealthy accumulate more yet feel increasingly isolated; the poor and marginalized struggle with too few resources; and many find themselves drawn to screens but distanced from each other. In such a landscape, how can what we design, and how we design, become a force for belonging, connection, and shared health?

This is what we mean by a Fireside Chat: Imagine a welcoming setting, good food and drink, and a circle of curious, thoughtful people. We invite a guest not to lecture, but to spark conversation - rich with questions, comments, and stories. Together, we explore, wonder, and dream about what comes next.

Tomorrow, February 4th, is World Cancer Day. TGB is dedicated to healthcare architecture, and we stand with survivors, fighters, and the loved ones of those who have passed from cancer. Cancer has had many advances in treatment and the earlier it is identified the higher the chances of survival. With the technology advancements, cancer is still the second leading cause of deaths in the United States in 2020 according to the CDC. A large part of this is due to disparities in treatment and overall awareness of cancer and preventative care.

As an architecture firm that creates healing spaces for cancer patients and families, we listen to understand the changing technology, community needs, and environmental factors that affect patients' health. TGB understands that healthcare should reflect the community it serves, and we seek out healthcare organizations that structure their system to meet the needs of minorities that are underserved.

We were excited to be at the ribbon cutting of Mason Health Rehab Services relocation to their new home in the newly named Cedar Building in December. With more than 7,000SF, the new space features a larger waiting room, with space for both pediatrics and adult patients, more aerobic equipment for adults which will reduce wait times, three private physical therapy evaluation rooms, and new special equipment to treat patients with vertigo. The pediatric treatment spaces will allow more flexibility in scheduling and treating pediatric patients. A special thank you to the design, project management, and construction teams of OAC Services, Skanska, P2S, Wood Harbinger, and PCS Structural Solutions.​

TGB is proud to be ranked amongst the top 170 Healthcare Sector Architecture + AE Firms by Building Design+Construction for the first time in 2022. We currently sit at 104th overall, 95th in Hospital Facility, 101st in Medical Office Buildings, and 57th in Outpatient Facility. In spirit of community engagement and giving back to our broader healthcare community,
TGB participated in our first Obliteride event this year to raise money for the great cancer research
at Fred Hutch. Thanks to the support of our network, our team raised over $5,000 for Fred Hutch
and their cancer research. We rode and walked in honor of the (too) many loved ones in our lives
that are currently battling cancer, have survived cancer, or that we've lost to cancer. There's still time
to donate if you'd like to contribute to finding a cure and supporting those that are or have
​battled cancer.

We had a wonderful time working on the farm today as volunteers for 21 Acres Center for Local
Food and Sustainable Living. They are a regenerative farm that is located in Woodinville and we
​were tasked with weeding around their squashes! Look through to see us feed their goats!

Drawing from the wisdom of living systems and stories of regenerative potential from White Oak Pastures, Reviveolution, and the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, nRhythm and TGB Architects explore the role of a regenerative designer and how this applies to the built environment.

Regeneration is becoming a hot topic in many industries. But regeneration is not just the latest trend. It's a process and approach rooted deeply in a systemic view of life. It's an approach that recognizes that our current way of designing and managing systems is leading to degradation of soils, souls, and society and that we need a new approach.​

In this article, you'll discover:

• How systemic issues like burnout, disengagement, inequity, and climate change are all rooted in the underlying paradigms of how we choose to design
• How shifting from a mechanistic to a living systems approach to design can regenerate potential on land and in social systems
• How regeneration can be applied to architecture and the built environment
