THREADS OF PLACE

Architecture lives in conversation - with place, with people, and with time. This space is where we share what's unfolding: project milestones, community stories, design explorations, and the quieter moments that shape our work behind the scenes.

One of the most transformative questions of our time: What do we do with AI?

2/17/2026

In our upcoming Fireside Chat, we’re bringing together people whose work lives are already being changed by AI to share how they’re experiencing this evolution in real time.

Meet our guest speakers:
Anya Smith is the Founder & CEO of SelfFull, where she’s reimagining coaching technology that blends real human connection with practical, human-centered AI. A founder and systems thinker, Anya is focused on helping companies translate leadership development into measurable outcomes, so growth isn’t just felt, it’s visible and actionable.
Her work centers on Human Performance Intelligence (HPI): connecting coaching, reflection, and performance signals into a clearer picture of what’s changing and what to do next. She’s particularly interested in separating AI hype from real capability, designing responsible “human-in-the-loop” systems, and building trust so leaders and teams can use AI to make better decisions, without outsourcing judgment, context, or care.
At this fireside chat, Anya will share her pivot into entrepreneurship, what she’s seeing in the pulse of AI right now, where its limits still are, and how organizations can use AI to empower people and strengthen performance while keeping the human core intact.

Over his career, he has helped build large-scale productivity and business experiences spanning data analysis, reporting, and performance management - work that includes turning complex information into clear insights and decision-ready dashboards for organizations.
For the past eight years, Leif Brenne has focused on education, partnering closely with educators and school leaders to support classroom workflows and help institutions adopt technology with confidence. In recent years, his work has centered on how AI can be brought into education software in practical, responsible ways - balancing innovation with strong safeguards for students, educators, parents, and administrators.
He brings a deep interest in privacy, compliance, and accessibility, and he holds industry credentials in privacy and accessibility-focused training. Leif Brenne speaks English and Norwegian and is passionate about helping learners thrive with technology that is both effective and trustworthy.
Alongside our guest speakers, TGB's own team has been actively exploring and experimenting with using AI as a part of an evolving design process. Over the past few months, Lingmei Kong (Licensed Architect) and Jingjing Yang (Architectural Designer) have been testing AI visualization tools. They will share some of what they have discovered and how it might reshape how we work and design together.
